Lake House Adventure (5 days/ 4 nights)

Departure: Monday, Thursday

Day 1: Bangkok to Khao Laem Lake (Dinner)

We depart from the New Road Guest House in Bangkok  at 09.00 by minivan for the half day ride  to the lake, which lies near the border with Burma (Myanmar), an area of diverse ethnic groups such as the Mon and Karen.  Board The Lake House and get to know your fellow travelers over a home-cooked dinner. Enjoy a drink (or two) at the bar and kick back for the first of many sunsets.

Day 2: Water Fall and Coconut Island (Breakfast/ Lunch/ Dinner)

Wake up to a healthy breakfast and help yourself to the 24-hour tea and coffee bar. Opt for any one of our brief daily excursions or stroke around the lake in one of the kayaks we provide. The Dai Chong Thong waterfall trek is more like a stroll. The reward for your labors is a cascade of water where you are likely to be the only tourist, foreign or otherwise, in sight. Afterward, we bring you to the isolated Coconut Island, where you will find a variety of coconut quite different from what you may be used to.   This exclusive island yields a coconut with softer flesh and sweeter milk. Visit the homes of the small Burmese ethnic group that populates this island and grows this unique delicacy.

Day 3: Elephant riding, lunch at the Karen village (Breakfast/ Lunch/ Dinner)

It almost goes without saying that when you enter the mountains of Thailand you’ll ride the gentle giants.  You will be taken through green jungle undergrowth,  across rivers and over amazing hill tops. Later you’ll take an easy ride back to the house boat on a bamboo raft and then have the rest of the afternoon or evening to swim, kayak, relax or whatever.

Day 4: Free day (Breakfast/ Lunch)

Enjoy the day swimming or relaxing in the sun. In the afternoon you will leave the boat and check into a guest house on the shore of the lake. You will have plenty of free time to explore the surrounding towns. (The package price includes lodging, but not food, at the guest house.)

Day 5: Sangklaburi-Bangkok

Today we depart at 10:00 am to the New Road Guest House in downtown Bangkok.
