Lisu New Year’s Celebration Photo Contest

Among the friendliest ethnic groups residing in Thailand, Lisu and Akha villagers are known for hosting a colorful and joyous New Year’s celebration.

It is a major event of the year when villagers dress up in their distinctive costumes and participate in traditional sports as well as perform aged-old auspicious ceremonies. This year, there will be a special ‘Sports Day’ that is expected to attract thousands of Lisu villagers from neighboring villages to compete in various sports.The Lisu and Akha villagers of Baan Sridongyen, Mae Tang District, Chiang Mai, would like to invite you to join them and partake in the festivities, enjoying special moments of joy and sacredness during their New Year’s celebrations, occurring between February 7 and 9, 2011. Lisu Lodge is holding the Lisu Lodge New Year’s Celebration Photo Contest 2011, the winner of which will be awarded a free 3 day/ 2 night trip to Lanjia Lodge in Chiang Rai.

Rules

Deadline to Submit the Photos: 23 February 2011
Theme: DigitalPhoto
Size: Minimum 250 kb, maximum 500 kb (800 x 600 pixels) in jpeg file only. Pictures can be corrected by software but must not be embellished or altered in any way.

Festival Date: 7 – 9 Feb, 2011 at Baan Sridongyen, Moo 5 Tambon Baan Chang, Mae Tang District, Chiang Mai

How to enter: Submit 3 of your best photographs, taken during the New Year’s Celebration 2011 of the Lisu-Akha villagers of Baan Sridongyen, to info@asian-oasis.com within 16 February. The first 20 photographers to submit photographs will be eligible to participate in the contest. You must own all legal rights to the submitted photos.

Prize: 3 day tour package and accommodation at Lanjia Lodge, Chiang Khong District, Chiang Rai.

Judging: The photographs will be posted on L isu Lodge Facebook. Become a fan of Lisu Lodge Facebook. Go to the photo gallery of ‘Lisu New Year’s Celebration 2011 Photo Contest‘ and vote for a favorite photo with “I Like”. The photo that gets the the most “I Like” wins the prize. The winner will be announced on asian-oasis.com and Facebook on Mar 1, 2011.
